Welcome to Sits with Nic & Lyss

Howdy Friends, I'm Lyss, Co-Owner of Sits With Nic & Lyss! Here's a little bit more about me:

As child, I knew that I adored animals. Growing up with my sweet Maltese-Shih Tzu mix, Sammy, I discovered a deep love for animals that has been a guiding force in my life ever since. Today, I share my home with Ashe, my sweet gray domestic shorthair cat, who keeps me endlessly entertained with his devious antics and loving purrs. (He loves to knock things over with his cunning paws).

With over 10 years of professional pet care experience, I’ve had the privilege of working with pets of all breeds, sizes, and personalities. From energetic puppies to senior pets needing extra care, I approach every animal with patience, compassion, and a commitment to understanding their unique needs.

As part of Sits With Nic & Lyss, I’m dedicated to creating a home-away-from-home experience for your furry family members. Whether it’s playtime, cuddles, or attentive care, I treat every pet as if they were my own, ensuring their happiness and your peace of mind.

Hi there guys! Nicolas here. Thank you for taking the time and effort to see what we are all about. I’d like to share a snippet story of how my love and passion for pets came about. I was raised in suburban Long Island where my family grew up with 2 dogs; my first being a rescue and the other from a breeder. There’s nothing quite like that first encounter with your very own pet that you’ve been yearning for as a child. Fast-forward past years of being a dog owner, I moved to Astoria in January 2021, in the thicket of COVID. I wanted to have an animal of my own living in the concrete jungle, but I knew at this point that I could not offer a new dog the space and quality time they deserved, so a friend who was fostering kittens suggested a change of pace with a cat. Originally skeptical, I knew the moment I laid eyes on my bubs’ wide crystal blue eyes that he was indeed my son(lol).

I would say from observation that most New Yorkers come accompanied with a furry companion, but then it occurred to me that all New Yorkers struggle with maintaining one universal thing-our time. It’s an ongoing adjustment and when it comes to our pets, they require a lot of it and with good reason. I take pride in my compassion for people and animals, as well as my ability to create safe and trustworthy connections with my peers. That is why I decided to take up arms in the effort to alleviate people’s distress when it comes to leaving our pets due to other essential life obligations. It is not only fulfilling to be surrounded by beautiful, loving creatures, but an absolute joy to connect with others in this way and to see the looks of relief and satisfaction from our clients.
